A little bit about our Par-Tea hostess!
Gabrielle was born and raised Angeleno by way of Mexican and Indonesian-Dutch heritage. She graduated in 2016 from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Prior to working at Caltech, she worked at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum and in luxury real estate marketing. Gabrielle now works in the Andrew and Peggy Cherng Department of Medical Engineering as a Senior Administrative Assistant, working with Professors Wei Gao, Anqi Zhang, and Brent Fultz.

Gabrielle joined APACT to get closer to her Asian heritage. Since growing up, her father's side of the family worked to assimilate into American culture after becoming exiled from Indonesia and moving from the Netherlands in the late 1950s. Her father's family spoke Dutch and grew up with Dutch citizenship, far removed from their Indonesian culture. Gabrielle has always longed to bridge the gap between the sides of herself, including her Mexican side, and to honor the cultures that raised her.
